Zoey is two weeks old

Zoey was two weeks old on Friday - it has gone by so fast. We had a weight check up at the pediatrician Friday morning. We took Zoey to the pediatrician last Friday (when she was 1 week old) and her weight was down from 8lbs 8oz at birth to 8lbs 2oz. Yesterday at the doctors office, she weighed in at a whooping 8lbs 15oz! The doctor was very pleased with her weight gain and said she looks great. Zoey is quickly out growing the newborn size diapers and all her newborn clothes! She's an eater, what can I say!

Pumpkin Patch

Wednesday Nana and I took Taylor to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch with our playgroup. My mom stayed home with Zoey so we could go play. I didn't figure there would be that many people at the pumpkin patch during the day, but there were several schools there. We still had fun though. We jumped in the bounce house, took tons of pics with all the super cute cut-outs, went in the hay maze and went on a hayride. The hayride was Taylor's favorite part of the pumpkin patch!

Zoey's first day home

On the way home from the hospital on Thursday, we stopped by KDO and picked Taylor up from school. She was so excited when she got in the car and Zoey was there.

Taylor wore her "I am a big sister" shirt and Zoey had her "I am a little sister" shirt on.

Thursday night Taylor got to dress up in her halloween costume for the KDO Fall Festival

Zoey Katherine Theaux is here!!!

Zoey arrived on October 15th at 2:52am. She weighed 8lbs 8oz with a full head of black hair. During the delivery, I got a 103 degree temperature and Zoey was in distress. When Zoey came out, she was taken to the NICU almost immediately for problems breathing, a possible infection and fluid on her lungs. They let me hold her for literally less than a minute before taking her to the NICU.

Taylor opened her big sister gift from Zoey on Friday when she came up to the hospital to meet her. Sadly Taylor didn't get to see Zoey on Friday since Zoey was in the NICU.

Taylor got to peak through the window at the NICU to see her baby sister on Saturday

The NICU let Zoey come down to our room to visit late Saturday afternoon. Taylor was so excited to meet Zoey and opened Zoeys little sister gift for her that she picked out especially for her. Taylor picked a Seasame Street Zoey doll/teether for her baby sister.

The NICU let us keep Zoey in our room for the rest of Saturday and Sunday. Sunday we found out that she had to stay an extra five days to finish her antibiotics to kill whatever infection she had. Her levels on one of the test were too high and the NICU could not discharge her until they were under a certain level. Thankfully the hospital let us board in our room for the 5 days with Zoey. She got to stay in the room with us every day which made it bearable to be in the hospital that long. We had wonderful, wonderful NICU nurses that did a fabulous job taking care of Zoey. We had one nurse that called Zoey, "Big Baby Zoey" since Zoey was 8lbs 8 oz and all the rest of the babies in the NICU were premies and itty bitty. She did look huge compared to them.

One of the night NICU nurses made this sign for Zoey's "baby bin" as we like to call it. I thought it was incredible that of all the stickers to put on the sign, she put a sea turtle on the sign (my favorite animal). Granted she spelled Zoey's name wrong, I still loved the sign. It was so sweet of her to make it for Zoey. Sadly, Zoey had an explosive diaper one morning and ruined the sign. I will save you the details!

Our precious little angel Zoey

After the week stay in the NICU and on antibiotics, Zoey was discharged on Thursday to come home. Her levels were below what they needed to be and she is healthy. It was a rough week, but thanks for all our friends and family and their prayers, Zoey is doing wonderfully!

Zoey update - 38 weeks

Had another check up this morning. Absolutely no progression or changes. We are still at a 2 and 50% effaced. Zoey is about 7 pounds with a good, strong heart beat.

We did go ahead and schedule to be induced next Wednesday on October 20th. My due date is October 21st, so she will be a day early (if she doesn't come sooner). The doctor told me last week that she was comfortable inducing me then, so Nathan and I talked about it and decided to set the induction for close to her due date. The doctor said she wouldn't let me go past 41 weeks, so we figured, why not just do it near her due date. I really pray she comes on her own, but it gives me a little comfort that the doctor feels it would be safe to do induce anytime now.

My last day of work before maternity leave will be this Friday unless Zoey arrives before then. I will be off work for 3 months and return after the new year. We are very excited to meet Zoey and have her here with us. It's kinda crazy to think that she will be here in 9 days if she doesn't show up on her own before then.

Sympathy Pains

My hands and feet have been swelling pretty bad the last few days and I guess I have been complaining too much. This morning, Taylor said, " My feet hurt, I need to prop them up on a pillow". She went a laid on the couch where I've been sleeping the last few nights and propped her feet up on some pillows. A few minutes later, she said, "they feel much better now".

Zoey update - 37 weeks

We had a great, relaxing weekend. I got up at 4:30am Saturday morning and all I wanted to do was clean Zoey's room. I sanitized everything in it and got everything finished in her nursery. I believe they call this craziness "nesting". Thankfully I went back to sleep around 6:30am till 10am. I walked as much as I could this weekend to get Zoey moving.

We had a doctor's appointment this morning and we are only dilated to a 2 now and still 50% effaced. I think my crazy hormones are taking over because I am completely bummed that we are not further along even though we still have 2.5 weeks left till our due date. I know that she will come when she is suppose to and it is not up to me. I just really believed that since Taylor was 3 weeks early that Zoey would be too.
