Complaining toooooooo much!

I have been complaining way to much lately about work. Work has kind of been a beating lately and I've been coming home and complaining to my sweet husband. I didn't realize I had been complaining that much until my wonderful husband made a comment about me quiting and staying home with Taylor last night. Don't get me wrong, I would love to stay home with her and do playdates, etc.... but I love working. I have such a good thing going right now - I am in the office or field 2 days a week and work from home 3 days a week. It will be hard to give this up! I love it because I get to interact with adults in a professional setting part of the week and then I get to stay home with Taylor and love her while I work the other half of the week.

I do get jealous from time to time of our friends who are stay at home moms and they get to do all kinds of cool stuff during the day with their children. I hate admitting that, but it's hard not to get jealous. I know it is wrong of me to get jealous. I should be thanking God that they are able to stay home with their children and do stuff with their children.

Lately with the economy the way it is, I am glad I have a job. I am thankful for what God had given me and what he provides us. I have to stop complaining and just remember it can always be worse.

For preschool, everything Taylor takes to school has to be labeled with her name. Well, I haven't gotten any cutesy, aborable, waterproof labels yet, so I have been labeling everything she has with masking tape and sharpies. I know right - how embarrasing! My little girl goes to school in her precious little girly girl outfits and then has everything she owns labeled with masking tape. Well, I am now on the search for cute labels that I can plaster all over her stuff.

This morning we meet Crystal and her precious little girl Somang (pronounced Soma) who is 7 weeks old in Grapevine. Main Street in Grapevine has adorable shops, a Farmers Market and several winerys. We had a great time shopping and having lunch.

Thursday Taylor had a playdate with our friend Rebeccas two sons Micah and Grant. Rebecca and I went to elementary and middle school together in Kingwood. I hadn't seen her since then and ran into her in Albertsons when it was closing. We have stayed in touch and have had two playdates now. They also came to church last sunday with us and bible study on monday night. Small world! Anyways, we went over to their house and then walked down to a park area in their neighborhood. Micah is 2 1/2 and loved the playarea. Taylor is still a little too little to be able to play on the equipment by herself. She does like the slide though!

Nathan's basketball game

Nathan is playing in a basketball league on Sunday nights with some of the guys from work. Nathan's game was at 6pm tonight, but we figured it was early enough for Taylor to go to. I can't believe I forgot that a 15 month's old attention span is like 1 minute long, if even. She did relatively well, except she really wanted to go out on the court with the guys (during the game). Every time I told her no, she threw a fit. This has just started this week and I already don't like it! I can somewhat handle the crying if we tell her no, but I can't handle the throwing herself on the ground. We try our best to redirect her when she is throwing a fit and I know it sounds like it happens all the time, but it doesn't - I'm being a little dramatic at the moment. I'm just frustrated that my little angel is starting to act like this and she even does it in public. Alright, enough complaining, back to the basketball game. We found a little play area with a picnic table and a slide, so we visited it frequently during the game.

We have two dogs, Tait a Norweigan Elkhound and Beaux a Mini Beagle. Tait gets a little to crazy for Taylor and knocks her down, but Beaux is small enough, that they can play together pretty well. Their favorite game is chase. Taylor will chase Beaux around the stairwell and Beaux will howl at her if she isn't fast enough. Yesterday Taylor ran Beaux under our bed and thought it was hilarious when he would howl at her from under our bed.

I've been wanting to get Taylor some outside toys. The last few days, Taylor cries every time we put the dogs outside and don't let her go too. The only outside toys we have are a big ball and a car for her to push. I found a water table at the resale shop today and got it for her. When she got home from preschool, we went straight outside and played with the table. She seemed to really like it since her whole front side was soaked from splashing the water.

All I can say is....perfect! We got Taylor's Halloween Costume yesterday at The Childrens Place. I hadn't really started looking yet for a costume, but when I saw it, I knew she had to have it! Taylor is going to be a TURTLE! For those of you who don't know me very well, I love turtles! They are my absolute favorite. It is just the cutest costume I think I've ever seen. I also figured that this is my last year to get to pick her Halloween costume out - I'm sure next year she will pick her own out.

Going Bonkers!

This morning we went to breakfast with April, Eddy and Abigail Huskey. Abigail and Taylor both go to Tammys (babysitter) and are in the same Sunday School class. They play pretty well together.

After breakfast at Mimi's Cafe, we went to Going Bonkers! Going Bonkers! is a indoor playland with slides and climbing structures. It took Taylor a little while to get into it since it was her first time there. Abigail had been before and showed Taylor the 'ropes'. The girls seemed to really enjoy it!

First Cowboys game of 2008

Well, I've fallen behind on my blog. Last Sunday we had Nathan's two cousins and their significant others and their friends over to watch the game with us. We all got our Cowboys garb on and Taylor entertained us all until she just couldn't stay awake any longer and had to take a nap. We had a great time with Nathan's cousins. Go Cowboys!!!!

Taylor started preschool today at church. I got some super cute videos this morning, but they take to long to upload. Taylor walked right into her class and never looked back. I know she is too young to be excited, but I think I am excited enough for the two of us! I can't wait to go pick her up and find out how her day went.

Meet the Teacher

This morning, we had Meet the Teacher for KDO (Kids Day Out) at our church. It is kind of like going to preschool. They have 3 days of school, but since Taylor goes to the baby sitter two days a week, we figured one day would be enough. There are 11 children that will be in her class.

We met her teachers, Ms. Shirley and Ms. Kyung when we first arrived. As soon as I put her down, she was off to meet the children. She is quite the social butterfly. It makes me happy that she loves to be around children and plays easily with other children. She just played and played with all the kids. She even petted some of them on the head. I'm excited for Taylor and this new adventure.

I didn't take any pictures of the other children with Taylor, even though I wanted to. Also, if you hadn't noticed, Taylor doesn't smile much for photos anymore. She use to all the time when she was little. We also have a hard time keeping her attention on the camera for the photos. Oh well, she's only one - what do you expect.

This must have been tiresome for Taylor because when we got home, she walked straight into her room and reached for her crib. I layed her down and haven't heard a peep since.

Big Helper

Man, yesterday was gorgeous outside. It was in the 70's and cool. We opened the windows because it was so nice outside. Taylor helped me clean the windows sills with paper towels. Then the wind blew the paper towels all over her (I think she helped unroll them)!







Then she helped me do 2 weeks worth of laundry. Since we have been traveling so much, we haven't done laundry in a while. I think she liked the basket ride the best!

Labor Day Weekend

Nathan and I drove to Brownwood friday to get Taylor and the dogs from his parents. Nana and Poppy watched Taylor and the dogs last week while Nathan and I were both out of town for work. As much as we missed Taylor last week, it was a nice break and I recommend it for all parents.

Before we knew Taylor was a girl, Poppy bought the baby some Wranglers. A little background on the subject - Nathan grew up on a ranch and Poppy was a bull rider. Poppy still runs the ranch, so we thought Taylor should wear her cowgirl outfit. Nana and Poppy found Nathan's first pair of cowboy boots and his first cowboy hat. The boots fit Taylor perfectly, but the hat was a little big. She's not one for hats anyways.

After playing dress up, we went to a boat store and Taylor found an adorable pink 4-wheeler that she wants. They have a matching one for mommy!

We spent the rest of the day shopping! Nana, Taylor's and my favorite thing to do!

Sunday we went over to MamaDot and PawPaw's house (Nathan's grandparents) for lunch with the family. After lunch we sat outside to talk, but the flies were bad. MamaDot got out the fly swaters and Taylor did her best to help MamaDot kill the flies. We also went for a walk around the front yard and found some treasures! Who knew acorns were so wonderous!
