Thanksgiving 2009

We left Wednesday for Brownwood to spend Thanksgiving with Nathan's parents on the ranch. On the way, we stopped at a place I have been asking Nathan to stop at for probably the last 7 years. On the way to Stephenville, there is a place that has the Guiness Book World Record for the largest Rocking Chair. There is a great store and a restaurant there that I have always wanted to go into.




This is my first Guiness Book of World Records things ever.






Once we got to the ranch, Taylor was dead set on going to see the horses. She went with Poppy every morning and every night and helped him feed the horses down at the barn. She adores horses and get so excited to go see them at the ranch.

Friday Charlotte and I got up at 3am so we could be at Walmart at 4am for the 5am sales. What a beating!! Walmart was a mess with people everywhere, lines everywhere, putting sale items out early and no one getting them that waited till 5am, etc.... and I vow never to go to Walmart again on Black Friday that early in the morning. It was just so disorganized and not worth it. We went to some other stores, so I did get to do some fun shopping. I love the Black Friday shopping and the day after Christmas shopping. Those are my favorite shopping days - Nathan thinks I'm crazy!


Charlotte had to work most of Thanksgiving holiday, but we still had a great time. My parents went on their first cruise through the eastern Caribbean over Thanksgiving. I was so glad to hear yesterday when I talked to mom that they had a great time on their first cruise. I think they finally relaxed for once on a vacation. They are ready to go on another cruise, so hopefully they will take us with them next time!

The preschool choir sang in big church today. Taylor isn't in the preschool choir since preschool choir starts at age 3, but some of the children that are in extended session got to go with the preschool choir and sing. Taylor and Chloe were the only ones who went and sang with the older kids. Taylor loves to sing and dance and loved being up on the steps in front of the whole church. They sang 'Do Lord' with hand motions. It was soooooooooo cute!!

I think Nathan thought I was crazy for wanting to take pics and have him video tape her singing. It was nice to see that we were not the only parents with the video cameras and cameras out. When we got home, Taylor wanted to watch herself sing, so played the video on the tv and she danced and sang with herself on tv.

Coppell Cowboys playoff game #2

Saturday morning we headed to the Cowboys stadium again with the Huskey's to watch the Coppell Cowboys play their second playoff game. We sat next to the Christiansons, so Taylor, Abigail, and Chloe played together the entire game. They had so much fun cheering for the Cowboys and playing with the pom poms. They were so cute together. It was a great game and the Cowboys won again! Yeah!!

New Moon premiere

Yes, I love the whole Twilight saga. I don't consider myself a 'Twi-hard' as the crazy Twilight fans have been dubbed. I would say I am more of a 'Twi-mod" if anything. At least I am not alone, April is my partner in crime when it comes to the Twilight saga. She loves it as much as I do. We bought our tickets about a month ago when they first went on sale. April's mom was in town and loves Twilight too, so she went with us as did our great friend Katherine. Katherine isn't as crazy about it as we are, but she likes it enough to go with us opening night.

We got to the movie about an hour and a half early to get in line and were no where near the first people in line for our showing. Now, those people are crazy! The movie was well worth the wait and was fabulous (of course!).

Taylor's new shirts

I can't credit for this idea. I read a friends blog who had made some shirts for her son and one of her friends had told her how to do it. Her shirts were so cute that I just had to try it. They were relatively easy to make, so if any of you are interested in the directions, I can email them to you. I made these two shirts the first night and then I made Taylor a Cowboy shirt for the Coppell Cowboy game Saturday morning. I don't have a pic of it on this post, but it will be in another post about the second Coppell Cowboys playoff game.

My tree didn't turn out as good as I would of liked. I don't really like the trees shape. I think the turkey is so much cuter.

Breaking the rules

Nathan and I have a rule that we do not pull out the Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving. I hate it that all the stores pretty much bypass Thanksgiving and pull out the Christmas decorations right after Halloween. I've noticed that past few years that some stores even pull out the Christmas stuff before Halloween is even over. I don't have a lot of Thanksgiving decorations, but I have a few we put out for the season.

I decided last night that I was going to pull out all the Christmas decorations early this year and go ahead and get the house decorated while I have the time. Work is finally picking up and I am going to be busy after Thanksgiving, so I thought since we aren't going to be here for Thanksgiving, we could go ahead and put out the Christmas decorations. If we were going to be here for Thanksgiving, I wouldn't even think about pulling out Christmas decorations. Our tradition has always been to put out decorations the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Nathan said it was okay, so since I have some time this week, that is what I will be doing in my spare time. I love Christmas decorations and this time of year. I guess since I get to put out the decorations, that means I get to start listening to Christmas music!!

The Coppell Cowboys made it to the first round of the playoffs. The game was last night at the Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington. We haven't had a chance to go to the new stadium yet, so we were super excited to get to go to the game. Mom and dad were in town, so they went to go to the game with us.

Taylor was enthrawled with the Lariettes and the band in the half-time show. She loved watching the Lariettes with their shinny pom poms and the band was awesome. The band spelled out Coppell 17 and Keller 07 (the game score at half-time). It was really cool!!

The Cowboys played Keller and WON! It was a great game and Taylor had a blast! She loves to cheer and holler at football games. We left with about 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter since it was 11:30pm. Taylor was still going when we left and I figured she would of been asleep once we got in the car, but man, she was pumped up or something. She didn't even want to go to bed when we got home! Luckily, she's pretty easy and went straight to sleep when we got home around midnight. The best part was, she slept in till 8:15 this morning!!

Horrible Hair Day at KDO

Today is Horrible Hair Day at KDO. I have figured out that it is easiest to do Taylor's hair at the breakfast table while she is eating her breakfast. She doesn't mind me putting her hair up and she loves wearing bows, but she absolutely hates for us to brush her hair. I just don't understand it!?!

I had to fight (not really, but you know what I mean) with her this morning to get her to let me give her crazy hair. She ended up with 2 pony tails and 4 braids with 6 hair bows. She did however, think she looked pretty good after I finished it and she looked in the mirror.

Heard Museum

This morning we met our playgroup at the Heard Museum in McKinney. It was the perfect day to spend outside in nature. They have a nature trail with huge animaltronix dinosaurs along it. Taylor and Arjune loved the dinosaurs, but Harrison and Christian didn't like them moving and roaring at them.

Comic Surprise 30th Birthday Party

Halloween night, after Trunk or Treat, we headed to Oak Cliff (yes, scary) to a surprise 30th birthday party for some dear friends. Kami threw Brandon a comic book party at the Soda Gallery in historic Oak Cliff. Brandon had no idea and was so surprised when he arrived and we were all there dressed as comic and cartoon characters. The party was so much fun and Taylor had a blast. There was a caricaturist, a rootbeer tasting station and yummy mini foods. Very fun! We also got to see a few college friends we haven't seen in a long time.

Trunk or Treat

After our neighborhood block Halloween Party, we headed to the church for Trunk or Treat. It is fabulous! There are rows of cars lined up that are decorated and filled with candy! I wish they had that when I was little!

Halloween Block Party

Our community had a Halloween party yesterday before Trick or Treating started. There were games, face painting, and lots of treats! Taylor loved all the games and of course, getting a treat for winning the games.
