Bounce house day at preschool

Yesterday was officially Taylor's last day of preschool, but today they had bounce houses set up for the kids to play in for their "last day" of preschool. Since Taylor only goes on Wednesdays, she was told she could come up to play with her class during their bounce house time at preschool. She was so excited all morning to get to go up to school and bounce. She had a great time with her friends and was not to happy with me for making her leave when none of the other kids had to leave.

Last 2 weeks of KDO

All of the kids with summer birthdays got to bring snack one day this month to celebrate their birthday at preschool. Last Wednesday was Taylor's day to celebrate her birthday. I had planned to take cupcakes for the kids, but Ms. Danielle asked me the day before to not bring cupcakes because all the other kids had brought them and the kids were climbing the walls afterwards. So, we took rice krispie treats. I wanted to make them from scratch, but in the past when I've tried that, they have never turned out good. I went ahead and bought premade rice krispie treats and that made my life a little bit easier. We had a few aprons left over from her birthday party last year and we had just enough for all the kids, so she took them as "party favors". She enjoyed getting to celebrate her birthday early.

Today was the last day of preschool. Taylor was so excited for school. I'm pretty sure she absolutely loves school. She asks every day if she gets to go to school tomorrow.

Doesn't she look so old? She looks like she could be going to Kindergarten or something.

Our little ballerina is getting geared up!

Yesterday April and I took Taylor and Abigail to Spotlight Dance to get their ballet outfits for their beginner's ballet class that starts in 2 weeks. The girls had a blast trying on leotards, getting their tiny ballet shoes, picking out hair bows and they had to have matching bags to carry their shoes in to class.

I can't wait to see Taylor in her ballet class. I hope she enjoys ballet. I loved ballet when I was little, it makes you feel like a princess. Too bad I have 2 left feet and zero coordination. I pray Taylor got her fathers coordination!

It's official!!! We picked her name

We picked Baby Theaux #2 first name last night and we are going with Zoey. Nathan and I both love the name and it's both our favorite, so why not!?! We haven't picked a middle name, but at least now I have something to call this little baby. We are wanting to use a family name for her middle name, but we are having a hard time finding anything we like that goes with Zoey.

The name Zoe (also spelled Zoey) means LIFE in Greek. Love it!

Zoey Theaux - I like it!

Baby Theaux #2 needs a name

When we were pregnant with Taylor, we had her name picked out before we knew she was a girl. We did not have a boy name picked out when we were pregnant with Taylor. This time, with baby #2, we had a boy name picked from the moment we found out we were pregnant - Zane Eugene Theaux. We have not been able to pick a girl name this time. We thought we had it narrowed down to Juliet (and call her Jules). After we found out it was a girl on Tuesday, we asked Taylor what she wanted to name the baby and she said Zoey. Nathan and I both love the name Zoey, so I think that is what we will name this precious little girl. We aren't 100% sure yet, but we are pretty sure (if that makes sense).

My mom and brother came into town Tuesday afternoon and we spent 2 hours in front of the computer looking up baby names. It was kind of funny because we were looking at names and we were asking each other what middle names work with Zoey as the first name. Hopefully we can find a middle name soon and my vote is for Zoey as the first name!

My parents had picked my name Katherine Abigail Koester and they were going to call my Abby. My brother was 3 1/2 years old when I was born (just like Taylor will be when baby #2 is born) and he told everyone that my name was Katie. My parents didn't have a choice, Zach had decided I was going to be Katie. I love the fact that Taylor has picked Zoey for her baby sister and that is probably what we will name her.

It's a...............GIRL!

We had our gender sonogram this morning and found out we are having another girl. I really can't believe we are having another girl. I really, really, really thought it was a boy. But, I also thought Taylor was a boy, so I have decided that I have zero maternal instincts.

We are super excited to have another girl and Nathan is sooooo ready to start on the nursery. We kept all of Taylor's stuff, but I think we are going to go with a surf/wakeboarding theme this time. My mom said she would recover Taylor's bumpers and stuff if we wanted to change the bedding. I'm kind of excited to do something new with the nursery.

I'm just glad that we finally know the sex and can start getting ready for the baby. I think it will be great for Taylor to have a little sister. We have a few names picked out, but we aren't sure which one is our favorite yet. We'll let you know as soon as we pick the name.

Baylor Graduation

One of my oldest and dearest friends graduated from Baylor this past weekend with her MBA in Health Care Administration. We were all suppose to go down for her graduation Friday night, but Taylor ended up with a viral infection so Nathan stayed home with her. I drove down Friday night for the hooding ceremony. Ashley opted to not go through the large graduation ceremony and just attend the hooding ceremony. I took our good camera hoping to get some great pics, but realized during the ceremony that I did not put a memory card in the camera, so I got no pictures! I was so sad.

After the ceremony I went to dinner with Ashley and her family and her new fiancee and his family. Ashley and Brooks got engaged 2 weeks ago and they are the absolute cutest couple! They are going to get married in Houston next April.

We all met for breakfast the next morning and then Ashley had to go pack up her apartment to move to Houston. I went to the Baylor bookstore and Spice and did a little shopping. It was kind of nice I was on my own and didn't have a husband asking if I was done yet and a little kid touching everything. I met Tracy for lunch at Georges (YUM!!) which was nice. It was good to catch up with Tracy and spend some time with her. I haven't seen her since Taylor's baby shower 3 years ago.

I drove home Saturday afternoon and spent the rest of the day with Taylor and Nathan. She was starting to feel better, so that was nice.

Mother's Day 2010

We had a very nice Mother's Day yesterday. I bought my own present this year which was jewelry and I love it. We went to church and had a family picture taken (hopefully my fabulous suntan didn't ruin it). After church we went to Pei Wei for lunch which was super yummy! We did a little shopping at Stein Mart (Charlotte's favorite store) and then headed home so Taylor could take a nap. Plus Nathan and Eugene were not wanting to shop with us. We dropped the guys and Taylor off and then went back to our shopping. We shopped all afternoon and brought home some Rosas for dinner along with some movies. We watched The Tooth Fairy with the Rock in it and it was really cute. I'll watch any movie with the Rock in it. Taylor seemed to enjoy it, so that is really all that matters. After Taylor went to bed, we started to watch Leap Year. Nathan and his parents all feel asleep about a quarter of the way through it, so I finally just turned it off and went to bed. My verdict is still out on that movie.

All in all, it was a really nice Mother's Day. I love being a mother and I honestly don't think there is anything in the world as rewarding as being a mom. It helps that Taylor is a total rock star and makes it pretty easy on us to be her parents. Let's hope and pray that number 2 is just as easy!

Wait, what was your name?

Saturday night coming home from the soccer game, Taylor was sitting in the back of the Jeep with Nathan's parents. She was playing, playing, playing the whole way home. She is really big into pretend play right now. She was talking to someone on her pretend phone when Charlotte answered one of her questions. Taylor said, "No Nana, I'm on the phone, I'm not talking to you". Charlotte said, "oh, who are you talking to?" and Taylor said, "Ummm, I'm talking to......., I'm talking to...... wait, what was your name (talking into her pretend phone)?" We all just died laughing!

She finally told us that she was talking to another Zoey (apparently she had been talking to a different Zoey earlier). Don't you just love kids imaginations! Taylor's imagination runs wild and I love it!

FC Dallas game

Saturday night we took Nathan's parents to the FC Dallas game in Frisco. We use to go the games all the time when we lived in Little Elm, but haven't made one since Taylor was born. Nathan and I both love soccer, so we really enjoy watching FC Dallas games. We sat in the cheap seats under the score board, which actually worked out perfect. There is about a 4 foot space between the top bleacher and the score board for people to watch by. We sat in the top bleacher and Taylor would climb over the bleachers and play between the bleachers and the score board. It was great because she was completely happy and there weren't really any people walking in that space, so I didn't have to worry about her up there. The only bad thing was, I spent half my time with my back to the game so I could watch her. The other half of the time, she was climbing over the bleacher back and forth. She maybe watched a little bit of the game, but I wasn't expecting her to sit still that long. FC Dallas scored one goal to win the game and they set off fireworks which she loved. We had a great time at the game and didn't get home till 10:30pm. Taylor was still going, going, going till she got into bed. If only I had her energy!

Mom-to-mom sale

Saturday morning April and I took all of our 'junk' and kids stuff up to the church parking lot for a giant garage sale. ECPTA hosted a mom-to-mom sale which is pretty much just a bunch of moms getting together with all their kids stuff and selling it. April and I both sold a ton of stuff and it was nice to clean out our garage. The sale was from 8-12, but we packed up and left around 11:30. It was pretty chilly that morning, but it warmed up by the time we left. When I got home, I was a lobster. I didn't realize that my arms, chest, and face were frying in the sun while we were out there. Of course I had my sunglasses on, so I had awesome raccoon eyes Saturday and Sunday. Thankfully it has tanned out mostly on my face, so it isn't so noticeable today. Yes, my mother's day pictures should look pretty great with half my face red and half pale white.

I learned my lesson, I will be bathing in sunscreen this summer if I am outside for any amount of time. Thankfully the sunburn doesn't hurt - it just itches a little bit.

Already starting to swell a little bit

I had gone to sprouts and bought a bunch of fruit which I had to come home and cut it all up. I bought a watermelon, honey dew melon, and a pineapple to cut up. As you can tell, I was craving fruit yesterday. Yes, I was barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen - total cliché! I cut up fruit for 2 hours - that pineapple took all my strength to cut it up! By the time I was done, my feet were a little swollen.

This morning I had to take my wedding rings off because my hands have been swelling a little bit lately. I'm sure it is just the heat, but it's no fun. I don't remember swelling with Taylor until 6+ months, but it was also wintertime. This may be a rough summer for me!

Early, early, early bedtime

Taylor had preschool yesterday and then a friend came home with us for a playdate. When I picked her up from school, her teachers told me she had only slept about 15 minutes (oh, great!). She did really well for not getting a good nap. Last night at 6:30pm, Taylor asked if it was night, night time yet. I said, no not yet and she asked how long till bedtime. She usually goes to bed at 8pm. I said, "how about 30 more minutes and then you can go to bed early tonight". She said, "no, how about 5 more minutes". Right after she said that, she marched up stairs and started getting ready for bed.

I wasn't going to fight her on going to bed early. She went to bed at 6:45 last night, but she played in bed till 8pm. Maybe she just wanted some time alone in her bed with her stuffed animals. I'm glad she didn't fall asleep till 8 because I was really afraid she was going to be up before the sun this morning (not something I wanted to do).
