Movie Review............Bride Wars

Alright ladies,

I went to go see Bride Wars last night with a friend and it was...................adorable. I love Kate Hudson, so I will see anything she is in. The movie was really cute and was a total chick flick. Sometimes it is nice to watch a movie that is girly, has no cussing, and has no sex scenes. I had heard mixed reviews on it from friends, so I was a little worried it was going to be a flop, but you know, I don't get to go to the movies that often anymore, so I'll take what I can get.

I would totally recommend this movie if you girls are wanting to watch a cute, fun, girly movie. It reminded me of "How to lose a guy in 10 days" type of fun movie that you can watch over and over again.

Tea for two

Last year I hosted a tea party at my parents house for some of my high school friends and we decided we should do it every year. I was trying to get the evite put together today and I couldn't find a very cute evite for the tea party, so I had the genius idea to make my own evite. I asked Taylor, "Taylor, can I dress you up?", she turned and looked at me and said, "Um, yes". I got her all dolled up and pulled out her tea set and we had a tea party. I took some super cute pics of her having a tea party with her babies and then when Nathan came home, he drank some tea with Taylor. It was priceless!

Is there a 5K in my future?????

I just want to salute all of you who run marathons, half marathons and 5K's. I've been wanting to run a 5K for years, but the first and last one I signed up for, I had to cancel because I found out I was pregnant with Taylor and was going to be delivering her the week after the race. I didn't think I was really up for that! Anyways, one of my friends who just had a baby and is getting back into shape is wanting to run a 5K in April, so I told her I would run with her. I'm not promising that I will run the whole way, but I can try.

I ran cross country in high school and I wasn't any good or anything. I was usually close to the end of the line, but I could always beat the hurt kids. I did enjoy running with my friends though and it was a great workout. I figure if I should be able to get back into shape and be able to run 3.1 miles again. Easier said then done, but it is a goal (for all of you in bible study) that I want to complete this year.

I'll keep yall updated on my progress because I just started working out again two weeks ago and I can honestly only run about 1/2 a mile before I'm dying. How did I get so out of shape?

Elmo says, "Cheese, cheese, cheese"

This morning on Seasame Street, Elmo learns about using a camera and taking pictures. Taylor has just started getting into the whole Seasame Street thing and is now in love with Elmo! It is quite sweet. She can't quite say Elmo yet, so it comes out Nlmo.

I love watching her learn new things and how exciting it is to her. I had a disposable camera in my work bag that I carry with me to sites incase my digital camera battery ever dies. I let her play with it and she has been taking pictures all morning. She is walking around going "cheese, cheese, cheese". Too cute.

Gymboree class

This morning Taylor and I went to a Gymboree class where the kids get to play on equipment and do some instructed play. Taylor loved it!! So did I to tell you the truth.

Wisdom Teeth

This morning, bright and early, Nathan had to go in to get his wisdom teeth taken out. I dropped him off at the doctors office, took Taylor to school and came back and got him. It worked out nicely for me - I didn't have to sit there for an hour and just wait.

When he was done, he walked out with this ice pack wrapped around his head. It looked like the old time wrap around your chin and your head that they use to do if you had a tooth ache. I was just glad he could walk. I remember when I had mine out in high school, that I could barely walk out of the office I was so drugged. Nathan was pretty drugged up, but he seems okay. I was hoping he was going to say something funny, but he didn't. He did ask me several times if I dropped Taylor off at school.

The patient is resting nicely in the media room with a mouth full of gaze and the funny ice pack strapped to his head. I begged him to let me take a picture, but he kept saying no.

Big brother

My brother called this afternoon from Moldova. I haven't talked to him since Christmas, so it was a really nice surprise today to hear his voice. I almost didn't answer the phone because it showed as an 'unknown caller' on the phone and I usually don't answer those calls. Anyways, we talked for quite a while and it was so nice to actually talk to him. Taylor wouldn't talk to him at first, but the more I talked to him, she finally started talking to him. I think Zach was a little amazed at how much she can actually say now. I'm loving her talking so much now.

Zach works at the US Embassy in Moldova (Eastern Europe) and is on a two year tour. Zach seems to be liking living over there. He got a puppy a few months ago and she is keeping him company. He thought she was a boy and named her Rosco Pico (from Dukes of Hazard). He sent some pictures and she is adorable.

Play, play, play

Taylor had a playdate this afternoon with Abigail. We walked the girls over to the elementary school next to the Huskey's house. There is just something so precious about little kids holding hands. It was nice to get out of the house and it was a beautiful day today.

I wish we could go to a playground every day and play. Taylor loves to be outside and so do I.

We survived the weekend!

We hosted a house for Disciple Now this weekend. We had seven 8th grade girls and one co-host who was their group leader. The girls were wonderful and so sweet. I loved having them here and so did Taylor. I had to go to an orientation friday night at 6pm and then take all of their luggage to the house. The girls arrived around 1am. They all slept in the media room, so we didn't hear a peep out of them. Saturday we made pancakes and bacon for breakfast and then the girls had a session. After their session, they left for the morning to go to the church for some activities. They came back to the house for free time from 2-5. The girls hung out outside making dance video's (oh to be in middle school again!) and climbing our big tree in the front yard. The girls went to a concert at the church after dinner and got home around midnight last night. We got the girls to church on time, so we considered the weekend a success!

We had a great time this weekend getting to hang out with the girls and our co-host Brittney was awesome. The only hard part was staying up late enough for when the girls got home at night from their events. I can't wait to do it again next year!

Disciple Now - Winter Weekend

This weekend, we are hosting seven 8th grade girls from our church for Disciple Now. I went to Disciple Now every year at my church growing up and loved it. The youth stay in town, but they stay at host homes in the community and a co-host or group leader is brought in and leads the youth in several lessons and bible studies over the course of the weekend. The church also has concerts and group activities for the kids to attend throughout the weekend as well. Just to give you an idea, the kids aren't arriving at our house till midnight because they will be at a concert at our church till then.

We are really excited about hosting a home, me more than Nathan, but we are excited. I'll let yall know how it went on Sunday after the kids go home. I'm pretty sure Taylor is going to love having the girls here.

Two languages...genius in our midst!

Taylor goes to KDO at our church one day a week. Today when I went to pick her up, one of her teachers told me that Taylor was the only kid in the class who said 'Adios' to the Spanish teacher today. Her teacher said none of the other children said anything, but my smart cookie said a spanish word! I'm so impressed. I know I'm getting excited over nothing, but she spoke another language today. Proud mama here!

Almost done!

We are almost done with Taylor's playroom. We moved Taylor upstairs and made her nursery into a playroom. All we have left is to get stuff up on the walls. Yeah!! We are also wanting to set up a video monitor so I can watch her in her playroom while I am in my office. I mean, are you really ever done?

Fast, fun weekend

Friday night we had social with our Sunday school class at Ole's Mexican restaurant. We have such a wonderful Sunday school group. Saturday we spent the morning at IKEA buying Taylor shelves, a table and chairs and some mirrors for her playroom. When we get the playroom put together, I'll post a picture. We went to the Frisco mall for lunch because Nathan loves food courts. He loves having so many choices in one spot. Works for me, we almost never eat from the same place when we are at a food court. Taylor loves horses and just kept saying, "Neigh, neigh" all through lunch because she could see the carousel. We took her on a ride and she absolutely loved it! She's gone before, but I didn't have my camera with me that time (shocker, I know!). Nathan had to take Taylor on the carousel because I get motion sick. Isn't that so sad!

After lunch I went to a baby shower for my sweet friend Lacey at Walls of Clay in McKinney. I've never been to one of the those paint a piece of pottery places, but you know, it was really fun. I really enjoyed getting to make a piece of pottery. Here is the before picture:

The plate has three turtles (yep, that's right - turtles baby!) with all of our names under a turtle and then it says "The Theaux Family" on the top right side. I had to free hand the turtles, so don't laugh. The lady at the store is going to write all the wording in pretty letters for me, so hopefully it will look better than it does now when it comes out. I really love this kind of stuff, but I wish I was more artistic. When I get it back in a week, I will post the finished picture.

We went to dinner with some college friends last night and it was really nice. Today we are going to finish her playroom once Nathan gets home from basketball practice.

Working hard or am I hardly working?

I had to go into the office today to pick up some work, so Taylor went with me. My boss is awesome and is totally fine with Taylor coming to work with me whenever I need to bring her. We only stayed for about an hour and Taylor was wonderful the whole time we were there.

Back to school!

Taylor went to KDO yesterday. I know she loves it because every time I say her teachers names, she smiles and when we get to her classroom, she runs in and gives them big hugs. Precious! Yesterday was the first day back since the holiday season and I know Taylor was glad to get to go. I know she likes being on a schedule during the week. The holidays are nice, but our normal schedule during the week works well for us.

Birthday present

My wonderful husband surprised me yesterday on my birthday with tickets to The Killers concert in February!!!! I am sooooo excited and can't wait. We both love The Killers and it has been years since we have been to a concert. Now I have to go get a rockstar outfit for the concert! He also gave me money for my annual girls weekend shopping trip. I have to tell you, he did great this year for my birthday! He usually does great with my presents, but I wasn't expecting these tickets, so I am super excited.

It is always nice to start a new year off with a bang! Having a birthday so close to New Years has always been fun. It just isn't so good for any diet I say I am going to start at New Years. I mean, you have to have cake and ice cream on your birthday right? What's a girl to do?

This is my 28th birthday and let me tell you, I do feel older. Dragging myself out of bed at 6:30 this morning and driving to work is not what I want to do on my birthday. I always wanted to be one of those people who takes the day off on their birthday. The sad part is, I don't have that many vacation days to take one for my birthday. Oh well, not that big of a deal I guess.

We are going to Babe's tonight for dinner and I can't wait. We haven't been in so long and it is sooooooooo good. I made Nathan promise last night that he would not tell them it was my birthday. They make you wear a chicken hat and stand on your chair and dance while they sing to you in front of the entire restaurant. How mortifying! Oh, it is funny when it is someone else, don't get me wrong, but not funny when it is you!

You might think this is weird place to put the crib, but her room is next to the media room, so we wanted her as far away from that wall as possible.


Taylor stayed in her big girl room last night for the first time and she did great. We got all of her furniture moved up into her new room Friday night and Saturday morning. She took her nap in her room Saturday and then stayed the night in her new room. She didn't cry once and just rolled over and went to sleep both times. I figured I would be sitting with her for a while when we put her to bed the first time to get her use to the new surroundings, but she is such a big girl and didn't need me. I guess that is good. Anyways, she seems to love having the bigger room to dance in. We don't have all the stuff on the walls or on her shelves yet, but we will get there soon.



We have turned her nursery into a playroom. We need to go get some shelving units to organize all of the toys. I think she is going to love having a room with all of her toys in it.

Dallas World Aquarium

Nathan took Taylor and me to the Dallas World Aquarium for my birthday today. My birthday isn't until Monday, but it was the only time we could go. We haven't been in several years and we thought Taylor would love it. Taylor did love it, but I think she was a little overwhelmed by all the animals. It was a lot to take in for a little person. She was sound asleep by the time we got her buckled in to her car seat.

Sorry behind her crying: She was playing with her new baby doll and hit herself in the head with it. The crying was a delayed reaction because after she hit herself, she looked around to see if anyone noticed and when we all asked her if she was okay, she finally started crying.

Saying goodbye and hello all in one night

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We were ready to say goodbye to 2008 last night and welcome in 2009. 2008 was full of milestones for Taylor and we can't wait to see what else she will achieve this coming year. 2009 is already going to have many changes for us. Because the house looks like Toys R Us threw up, we decided to move Taylor upstairs into a bigger room and make her nursery into a playroom. We've spent the last week cleaning out the two upstairs rooms, giving tons of stuff away, organizing and painting. We still aren't done with moving her yet, but at least the house is starting to look a little better.

New Years Resolutions - Nathan doesn't ever do any resolutions, but I make lists of things I want to change or do. For starters, I want to spend more time with friends and family. We have friends and family that live close to us that we need to see more. I also want to be more active. I do want to work out more, but that isn't what I'm talking about. I want to do more things and not just sit on the couch and watch tv at night. I have tons of projects that I've started or want to start, but I just haven't done or finished them. Another resolution for me is to stop using work as an excuse. I blame being tired in the evenings or not being able to do something on having to work. It's a crutch and I need to stop using it. Anyways, those are just a few of my resolutions.
