Chez Ami parties

Last weekend I had 4 Chez Ami parties. They went pretty well and were very relaxing. There weren't as many people at the parties as I had hoped, but you know, it was really nice to have small groups at my first parties. I definitely have learned some things to do and not to do at my parties. I am hoping to have the trunk again this season and conduct some more trunk shows.

This is my first season with Chez Ami and I love it so far! I really enjoyed conducting the parties and getting to meet so many new people. My mentor told me that the first season is always the hardest when trying to get established and learn the business. So far it has been awesome and I love it!

Going back to school!!!

There was a great message waiting for us when we got home from work yesterday on our answering machine.....there is a one-day spot at KDO for Taylor!!!!!!! I can't put into words how excited I am. I know she just loved it last year and she learned so much. I have to admit that I loved her going so I could get some alone time, but I honestly just love it because I know she loves it. We saw school buses around town Monday when I was taking her to Tammy's and she asked if she was going to school. I had to tell her know and that maybe next year she could go. Luckily she isn't old enough to really understand that yet, but now it doesn't matter - she gets to go to school now!!!

I'm not sure who her teachers will be, but we have Meet the Teacher next Thursday and then her first day of school will be September 9th. We are so beyond excited!!!!!

Playing dress up!

Taylor and I played dress up this morning with some of the samples in my Chez Ami trunk! She loved it at first and then decided she would rather be naked. She kept running away saying, 'Naked Baby'. I couldn't help but laugh. While we were trying on some of the sample pieces, Taylor's order from Chez Ami arrived. These clothes are so darn cute!

Chez Ami trunk shows!!

My Chez Ami trunk came in Monday! The trunk has almost 70 pieces of the Fall 2009 collection! The clothes are even cuter in person than in the catalog. I am really excited about this collection and I think everyone who sees the clothes will love them!

Tonight is my first party and I am super excited about it! I have another party Friday night, then an open house at my house Saturday from 3:30 - 6:30, and then my final party Sunday afternoon. It is going to be a crazy, fun weekend!

I've been wanting to play dress up with Taylor since my trunk came in, but I have honestly not had time to play. Hopefully today I can try some of the stuff on her and take some pics. What's cuter than a 2 year old model???

I'm not old enough to fall apart!

I'm only 28 and I honestly think I'm falling apart. My foot is broken and my back is a pretzel!

Yep, that foot pain came back Monday night and hasn't quite since. I had x-rays taken of it Tuesday and the doctor found a break - it's just a stress fracture though. I'm not sure how I broke it, the only thing I can think of is that it is from running.

My spine has been hurting me for months, so I finally went to the chiropractor to get it checked out. He took x-rays and then showed Nathan and me what we are dealing with. My hips are uneven which has caused my lower spine to bend (scoliosis) to correct my unevenness. My lower spine is crooked and my upper spine is crooked to counteract my lower spine being crooked. Then my spine is twisted in some areas and then my neck is a little out of alignment. Come on', seriously!?! The doctor said he should be able to get me all aligned within the next 3 months or so. So for the next few months, I will be going to the chiropractor 2-3 times a week. So fun!

My foot pain has taken my attention off my back pain, so that is a plus!

Crazy foot pain....

This weekend I experienced the craziest 24 hours. Starting Saturday morning, I had a faint pain in the top of the left foot. I didn't think much of it as it would come and go all morning. Around lunchtime it started to get more painful and more frequent. It was like a spasm in my foot. The spasms were so bad that it would make my whole body cramp. I took several aleve and several extra strength Excedrin, but it didn't phase the foot pain at all. The spasms got to where they were almost every 2 minutes. Nathan tried rubbing my foot, but that didn't work at all. Nathan thinks I had a pinched nerve, but who knows. Finally around 9pm I decided to take a hot bath and that seemed to stop the pain. I can't tell you how happy I was when I got out of the bath and the pain had stopped. I went to bed and read by book and about 30 minutes later the pain started again. So I went and put my feet in hot water for a while and then the pain stopped for about 2 hours. I woke up around midnight and had to put my foot in the hot water again. This only stopped the pain for about 10 minutes. I probably did this routine 4 times throughout the night and then finally at 3:30am I drove to Walmart to get some hot compresses to put on my foot.

I ended up on the couch because I didn't want to keep bothering Nathan since I was up and down all night. I finally fell asleep around 4am when the pain stopped thanks to the hot patch. He woke me up before he got Taylor up and let me get into bed. Nathan took Taylor to church and I finally woke up around 11am when they got home. I didn't take the hot patch off till 2pm today and I haven't had any pain since, so I'm praying it is over!

When I got home from a church meeting this afternoon, Tait was limping, so I guess I transferred my pain to my dog. Hopefully he just pulled something playing with Beaux. I swear we are falling apart!

Hanging out with Cousin Jennifer

Tammy our babysitter is on vacation this week, so I had planned to stay home all week and work from home. My boss needed me to come in today, so we scrambled to find someone to watch Taylor. Nathan's cousin Jennifer lives in Plano and she kept Taylor today while I was at the office. Jennifer just had a baby a month ago, but she really wanted to keep Taylor today. Throughout the day, Jennifer took pictures of Taylor and then emailed Nathan and me. It was awesome! I loved it! I doubt I can get Tammy to take pics of Taylor and send them to me everyday.

The first picture I got was of Taylor playing on the couch.
Then I got a picture of Taylor napping. So sweet!
I forgot to tell Jennifer that Taylor had never slept in a normal bed. She always naps in her bed or a playard if we are somewhere else. Apparently she did fine. That's great because we are going on vacation in September and really didn't want to carry the playard all the way to Phoenix with us. Thanks Jennifer!

Update on Taylor's 'big girl bed'

Taylor loves being able to crawl into her 'big girl bed'. She has done great so far! She just lays in her bed and reads books and plays with her stuffed animals till we go in and get her. I'm sure this won't last forever, but at least for now, she is content in her big girl bed.

I think around Christmas time we will get her real 'big girl' furniture and move her crib into another room. I'm not sure how she will feel about that because she is pretty attached to her crib. We will just have to wait and see!

Taylor in her big girl bed

Tonight we converted Taylor's crib into a daybed. We added on a little side rail so she doesn't fall out. She is super excited about her big girl bed and she is just awesome. She crawled right up there and laid down and went to sleep. We kept telling her that she has to stay in bed when she wakes up and she has to call for mommy and daddy to come get her. We added a gate at the top of the stairs and told her that she isn't suppose to touch it (that way she doesn't try to open the gate herself). Hopefully she will listen to us and stay in bed when she wakes up. I guess we will see in the morning!

KHS 10-year reunion

Nathan and me at the reunion!
When I first heard that we were having a high school reunion, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go. I figured that I kept in contact with the people that I really cared to keep in touch with. Then I got on facebook a few weeks ago and reunited with several people from high school that I haven't talked to since high school and I started to get super excited. I have been looking forward to my high school reunion since then. I found a dress Thursday that I just had to have and totally fell in love with. It is a champagne color with tiers of fabric down it and it made me look skinny. We went and picked up my dress Friday on the way out of town (it's a long story). I searched the mall in Kingwood Friday night to find some shoes to match since mom didn't have any gold dress shoes to go with my dress and I sure didn't have any gold dress shoes. I finally found some Saturday afternoon just hours before the reunion.

We got all ready and headed downtown at 8pm (that's when the reunion started). We arrived at the Westin Oaks at the Galleria and went up to the 21st floor. There were a lot of people already there so that was nice even though I didn't recognize half of them. There were almost 900 in my graduating class, so I didn't even know everyone when I was in school. We walked off the elevator and Nathan ran into a guy he use to work with before I even saw anyone I knew! Come on! When we walked into the room, I started to see more people I knew.

We mingled the rest of the night and got to catch up with tons of people. One of Nathan's fraternity brothers, Kyle Lewis was there so Nathan knew 2 people at my reunion, so it wasn't so bad for him. They only played fast music, so we didn't get to dance. Usually we would of danced, but one of my brand new high heels broke within the first 30 minutes of being at my reunion, so all night I had to be real careful when I walked not to step hard on my heel so I didn't fall on my face.

It was so wonderful to get to see everyone at the reunion and hopefully we can stay in touch better this next 10 years.

Fabulous weekend away

This past weekend we went to Houston for my 10-year high school reunion. Nathan's mom came in town to stay with Taylor here in Dallas and Nathan and I went to Houston by ourselves. My parents were out of town this weekend, so Nathan and I were completely by ourselves all weekend! It was fabulous! Friday night when we drove in, we went straight to the movies and saw a double feature. First we went to G.I.Joe which was actually good. I guess it helped that we had low expectations, but we both enjoyed it. Then we went to The Proposal. Okay, that movie is hilarious! Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds are awesome together. We loved it.

Saturday morning we drove down to Pearland to see baby Hannah Schneider. My sweet friend Bethany had Hannah on Tuesday, so it worked out perfect that we were coming in town this weekend and could come see her. Hannah was itty bitty and precious! Sooooooo cute!

After meeting little Hannah, we met Ashley and Brooks for lunch downtown. It was great getting to see them again. Ashley and I grew up together in Kingwood (we were next door neighbors for years) and have stayed in touch. After lunch we headed home to chill and get ready for the reunion. Awesome, awesome day!

Passing down my Barbies

We cleaned out the attic last week to allow the guys to install radiant barrier. We finally got around to putting all the stuff back into the attic last night. I found a box of my Barbies. I pulled out the Barbie corvette and the horse. Taylor absolutely loves horses, so as soon as she saw the horse, she asked me if she could have it. She kept putting the horse in the corvette and pushing him around. It was so cute. We named the horse Cocoa which is the name of the horse in the Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa books (totally recommend them!) that she loves.

Tonight she tried to ride Cocoa and I was afraid she would break him considering he is 20+ years old and made for a Barbie. I pulled out a barbie that was dressed like a horseback rider. Taylor got sidetracked with her riding boots and kept putting them on and taking them off her. Aren't kids funny!?
Playing with Cocoa (with his raincoat on....according to Taylor) and her corvette.
Cocoa riding in his corvette
Running out the door with Cocoa and her corvette when we said it was bedtime!

Fun with the sprinklers!

Yesterday morning the sprinklers came on and of course Taylor wanted to go outside and see them. Normally I would of said no, but it sounded fun and we weren't doing anything else at that moment, so why not?! When we first went out to them, she wouldn't touch the water. Then I got her to touch the water, but she wouldn't step into the sprinkler. Finally I got her to run around in the sprinklers and she loved it! When they turned off, she kept saying, "Where did they go?" and she would look at the ground where the sprinkler had been.

Neglect.....

I have been neglecting my blog lately and I'm sorry. I swear I have just been crazy busy with tons of things right now. My blog isn't the only thing I have been neglecting. I neglected to put sunscreen on my husband last weekend and he got burned. Yep that right, my 30 year old husband - somehow it is my fault for not making him put the sunscreen on. Go figure!

We went to the lake last weekend with my parents and it was overcast all day Saturday. We put sunscreen on Taylor, but Nathan thought he would be okay without it. He was lobster red Saturday night and is still pretty red. He held Taylor most of the time, so he is splotchy and only red in certain areas. It's funny.
Putting sunscreen on Taylor and not on himself!
Playing dominos with the family!
