For the last few years, Dacia Lacey and I have gone to my parents condo on Lake Travis for a girls weekend. There are no husbands or babies allowed. We go down
friday night, shop at the awesome outlets in Round Rock all day
saturday and then drive home Sunday. And, the first year I was pregnant, last year Dacia was pregnant and this year Lacey is pregnant. Lacey actually didn't get to go with us this year because she is due
tuesday - that is cutting it a little too close for comfort!
Since Lacey couldn't go, Dacia invited her neighbor Kim and I invited April. We decided to go down Thursday night and have an extra day for Girls weekend. It was a genius idea!! We left Thursday night, stopped in Waco for dinner at Georges and introduced Kim and April to the El
Nino potato! To let all of you who don't know the El
Nino potato - it is two baked potatoes pushed together, with a giant chicken fried steak, topped with gravy and grated cheese! It is heavenly! After our yummy goodness, we headed to the condo.
Friday, we shopped and shopped and shopped! We were exhausted from shopping, so we stopped for dinner and then headed to the condo for bed. Saturday we were in uncharted waters - we had never had a second day to play, so we didn't know what to do with ourselves. It was wonderful. We did some more shopping at regular stores, went to go see a movie - He's not that in to you (which isn't that great - it was okay), thought about getting massages and pedicures (but didn't do it) and ate at a Japanese
Hibachi place. Once again we had worn ourselves out shopping and relaxing. Sunday morning we got up and headed home. We got back to Dallas around 1:30 and it was nice getting to see Nathan and Taylor.
I always get so excited to show Nathan what all I got on girls weekend, and to say the least, he isn't so excited. He looks and nods, but could care less. And that right there is why we do not take husbands with us. Nathan was trying to get me to take Taylor with us - he kept saying, "but she is a girl and it's a girls weekend right?". I just told him that you have to be at least 20 years old to go with us (I'm sure that will change in a few years when Taylor begs to go with us).
Another successful girls weekend has come and gone. I think next year we will schedule the massages and such before hand to make sure we can all get in at the same time. It was a wonderfully relaxing weekend and I can't wait till next year!
